Information About Catherine & Stu’s Wedding
Check ya inbox! You should receive an email in the next day or so. It basically says the following:
Arrival
As per the schedule on our website, we’re requesting guests arrive between 4pm and 5pm. Jaara Elder Uncle Rick Nelson will welcome us to Dja Dja Wurrung Country as we begin our gathering and celebration.
The entry point to the venue will be clearly marked. You will be greeted upon entry and given a cup for you to use for the night. This is for all the drinks on offer so there will be a sink where you can rinse if you want to switch drinks. Make sure you drink plenty of water.
Dress Code
Please dress in whatever you are comfortable eating, drinking, dancing and being photographed in. There is no specific ‘dress code’ and you look beautiful in everything that you wear.
There will be a well-lit cloakroom where you can offload your jackets and bags. There isn’t a ticket system or anything so try and remember where you put your stuff.
It’s going to be hot. Sorry.
Weather
Keep an eye on the weather and note the overnight low. Even if it’s hot as it may get chilly once the sun goes down so bringing an outer-layer is recommended. It’s close to the new moon so if it’s a clear night, the stars will be dazzling.
At the time of writing it’s looking like it will be 33 degrees upon arrival. This is bound to change approximately one million times between now and Saturday so keep checking and have a backup muumuu just in case.
Slip, slop, slap, stay hydrated, seek shade and be your sun-smartest. There will be no indoor areas to retreat to but plenty of shade.
Transport
All the transport details can be found here.
Food
Dinner will be served buffet style between 6pm and 7pm. A full menu can be found here.
Please eat!
Your plates will be collected by the catering staff after 7pm.
If you get hungry later, help yourself to a party pie.
Drinks
The bar will be stocked with a selection of white, red and sparkling wines, and some plonk. There will also be cans of Furphy and Melbourne Bitter and a variety of soft drinks. We’ll also supply the finest tap water to keep you hydrated. Please fill your cup and dispose of the can or bottle at the bar. If you take the cans with you, please place them in the recycling bins provide.
The drinks menu can be found here.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. You can put drinks in the eskies but there won’t be fridge space for grub. We’d prefer if you brought cans over glass and please avoid bringing plastic where possible. There’s plenty of food and drink to go around so only bring your own if you don’t want to eat or drink any of the above offerings.
Smoking
The event is outdoors and you are welcome to smoke, but please avoid smoking in eating areas and stay away from kids and preggos. The ash trays will be clearly visible so please use them. Feel free to shame people who litter their cigarette butts as they will either be painstakingly collected by us and our family or eaten by wildlife who will then die.
Toilets
Portaloos. Sorry.
Power
The site has no power so we have hired a Generator for the night for the PA, lighting and other bits and bobs. We will provide phone charging stations but please do not plug anything into the generator directly or try to operate a hairdryer, GHD, urn or a Melbourne suburb on a hot day AYOOOOO!
Staff
There are two service staff who will be keeping things afloat. Drinks will be self-service from eskies around the grounds and at the wine bar. Staff will restock the bar and eskies in-between their other duties.
Photographs
Kristoffer Paulson will roaming the grounds and stealing your souls.
Guests are encouraged to take photos with their own cameras. Please send these to us or upload them online using the hashtag #catherineandstu. You can follow this hashtag on Instagram if that’s your bag.
If you don’t want your photos shared, please let the couple or their family know, and we’ll have Kris remove them from the collection.
Program
The ceremony will take place between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Our event compère Kim will make sure you’re made aware when the time comes.
DJs bebé and Joey Lightbulb will be playing party hits and d-floor bangers; designed for dancing and heart clenching. Keep an ear out for our favourite party classics!
There will be a beer garden, dining area and lounge for non-dancers and boogie breaks.
Getting home
The event will run until 2am. The charter bus will start taking passengers at 1.30am and do a second a final trip back to Castlemaine at 2am for anyone leftover.
Mini-Bus Lyf
Meet our friendly neighbourhood minibus driver Bry who will provide safe passage home for a single cash-money tip of $5 per person.
No need to book the minibus; Bry will be doing round trips from early evening onwards.
The bus seats nine passengers and will be able to drop people in Castlemaine and surrounds.
This option is open to everyone. To take advantage of the bus, make your way to the bus stop to see the next departure time. Bry will ring the bell to let you know that The Mini-Bus of Love Indubitably is leaving in 5 minutes.
A phone number will be provided so you’ll be able to call Bry on the night if you have special request or an emergency.
Sunday
You’re welcome to come back to Campbells Creek from 2pm to catch up and collect all of the things you lost the night before.
If it is too hot, we will relocate the detox to our accommodation in Castlemaine. Check the website on Sunday morning to confirm.
We hope you enjoy our party. See ya there as!
